Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Will your applications run on my Android smartphone and tablet devices?
-
Our Android applications will run on both the Android smartphone and tablet devices with a minimum OS level of 2.1
- Will your applications run on my Palm Pre or Palm Pixi smartphone?
-
Our WebOS applications will run on the Hp/Palm Pre and Pixi for WebOS 1.x and 2.0 (Mojo). It should also run under WebOS 3.0 (Enyo) using HP/Palm's built-in emulator.
- Will your applications run on my HP/Palm Touchpad device?
-
The HP/Palm Touchpad uses the newer WebOS 3.0 (Enyo) operating system, which requires native apps to be written in a new coding style different than the previous WebOS 1.x and 2.0 Operating System (Mojo).
None of our apps have been re-written for Enyo, so they can only run on the Touchpad using HP/Palm's built-in Mojo Emulator. In theory, our apps should work on the Touchpad, but as of now we have not tested them using
official hardware.
- Will your applications run on my Apple iPhone?
-
No, we currently don't make iPhone apps.
- Will your applications run on a Blackberry smartphone?
-
We don't have any apps that will run on the Blackberry OS devices.
- How can I get your applications installed on my Android device?
-
Our applications will be available through the Android Market which you can access either on your PC or Mac using your favorite
web browser, or by the Android Market app on your Android device.
- How can I get your applications installed on my Palm Pre device?
-
Our applications are available through the Palm App Catalog. This is the easiest way for you to purchase, download,
and install our apps on your Palm Pre phone.
- Do you have a phone number I can call for technical support?
-
To keep our software costs down, we only provide support via Email. If you send
an email to support@cohosoft.com with a detailed description of the issue, we
should respond to you often times within a few hours.
- I've sent you a few emails, and I never got a response... what should I do?
-
Most likely we did respond to your emails, however, you have a spam filter activated that is stopping them from
reaching you. AOL.com has a spam filter that seems to stop our emails occasionally without the owner knowing
about it (these emails don't appear in their spam folder). In these cases, the best thing to do is create a
"disposable" email account with yahoo.com, excite.com, hotmail.com, etc. and send us an email with your question.
We will respond to that email, and it shouldn't be blocked by a spam filter (if you don't activate it).
- Is there a way to download and install your software Over-The-Air (OTA)?
- For WebOS apps, you can do so by using the Palm App Catalog which is available
on your Palm Pre device. Likewise, for the Android OS apps you can download them through the Android Market.
- I tried using the email backup feature of jVault for the Palm Pre, and it seems to take a long time... is it working?
-
The email backup feature will convert all the data in the jVault database to encoded (and encrypted) text that will be inserted into the body of an email message.
It might take several minutes for this encoding process (depending on the number of records in the database), so you need to be patient and wait for it to complete.
In some cases, if you don't have sufficient memory or storage space the app may not complete the backup process. In that case, you may need to reboot your Palm device
to recover more memory for the operation.
- Does your jVault Desktop app for the PC work with jVault for the WebOS and/or Android?
-
Currently, jVault Desktop only works with jVault for the Palm WebOS. It does not work with jVault for the Android OS devices. We do have future plans
of developing a version of jVault Desktop to work with the Android OS app, which will run on the PC and Mac desktop systems.
- Do you have a version of jVault Desktop that will run on an Apple Mac or Linux system?
-
No. Our jVault Desktop software will only run on Windows PC OS machines. We do have future plans of creating a version for the Apple Mac, but that may be a while. In the meantime, you
use a product called CrossOver which allows you to run Windows application in a Mac OS X environment. CrossOver is a commercialized version of Wine
which is used to emulate the Windows x86 librarie files, etc. so you can run Windows Apps on the Mac. I've tested it with my iMac running Snow Leopard and it works great.
- I just purchased software from your site using PayPal, but I haven't received my activation code. What should I do?
-
Once your PayPal purchase transaction is verified, you will be sent an activation code via email (to the email address associated with your PayPal account). This is an automated process,
so you should get this email within a few minutes of your purchase. If you don't, please double check you PayPal receipt to make sure you are checking the right email address. Also,
double check that the email from Cohosoft.com isn't caught in a spam filter with your email system.
- For software sold on the Cohosoft.com web site, what is your refund policy?
-
All of the software sold on our web site have a trial version available, so we encourage customers to download the trial version and test it throughly before making your
purchase. As such, we do not offer refunds for purchased software.
- What are your future plans for developing apps for the mobile devices?
-
We are currently focused on creating apps for the Android OS smartphone and tablet devices. Because of the decisions by HP to stop manufacturing and selling
WebOS smartphones and tablets, we've made a decision to no longer develop apps for that platform.
